Not so long ago it was a big deal for a company to have an online presence; the big corporations usually had only a landing page with a simple picture, a phone number and address. The cool ones may have even had a song playing! Wow, has technology changed since then. Today it seems almost archaic to not have a website for a business and many people may even find themselves frustrated when there is no website to browse through before visiting a new venue.
We are so accustomed to having information readily available and want to know as much about a new company as we can before spending our hard earned money on their goods and services. Researching a company online is the best way to learn what they have to offer. Websites are quickly becoming as mandatory as brick and mortar venues once were (and even MORE necessary for some). Social networking sites such as Yelp, Facebook and Twitter have taken public involvement and exposure of businesses past mere websites and Google searches and have given companies a personality, enabling interaction with their audience as opposed to the one way conversation that websites create. No matter what type of business a company is, social networking is a great tool to inform and engage the public.
Guy Kawasaki is a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, an Internet expert and is credited as being one of the first to use evangelistic methods to promote a computer brand. He also understands how important it is to stay ahead of the social media curve by interacting with your audience and educating them while staying on top of current trends. In Kawasaki’s “standing room only” Building your Business with Social Media presentation to the San Diego Venture Group, he gives his expert insight into the lesser known practices of social networking. His little jewels of advice provide many “Aha” moments and will inspire you to use social media and interact with the public through your online presence in ways that had not even occurred to you.

Phil Mickelson and his sister, Tina, a local teaching pro, have gone multimedia in separate ventures.
Phil released his DVD, “Phil Mickelson: Secrets to the Short Game,” in early May, and it debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s list of sales of recreational sports DVDs.
In an interesting story from after the release, tour veteran Ted Purdy said he bought the two-disc set ($49.99) in the airport because his short game was “just awful.” He watched it, worked on the advice, and two weeks later at the Valero Texas Open he posted his first top-10 since February 2007. Since then, Purdy has been in the 60s in six of eight rounds. (more…)

For over a decade, I have watched with great anticipation the transformation of the Internet from a basic information portal just 10 years ago to what it is today, an essential communication, multimedia, and information vehicle that connects our entire world.
But with the evolution of the Internet, the digital media industry now faces another major crossroad. How do today’s content owners and producers deliver their content via the Internet to worldwide consumers instantaneously and actually make a profit? (more…)
It’s that time of the month again — time for another epic issue of Australia’s Freerider MX magazine to hit the streets. Kyle Loza nabbed himself the cover of issue 55 and if I’m not mistaken, this is Loza’s first-ever cover, so congrats on that homie. Freerider MX has just been killing it with the covers lately… it’s almost like they have an entire department dedicated to making the covers as ill as possible.
On top of releasing a new issue, the boys over at FRMX have been busy harnessing new technology in an effort to bring the mag to the masses via the internet. The new digital edition of Freerider MX will be available May 20th (when issue 55 hits the newsstands) and the best part about it is that it’ll only cost $1 an issue. Also, if you subscribe, then you know that each issue of FRMX includes an in-house-produced DVD, but now you don’t have to subscribe to get your hands on the vid. All you have to do is visit FreeriderMX.com/Youreeeka and you can watch the DVD’s online for $3.99. Pretty sweet, aye? Australian’s say aye don’t they? Or is that just the Canadians? Either way, they’re both weird peeps.
